How to be Unforgettable

Sabrina Carpenter.

Are you a fan or a skeptic?

I know her album cover has been doing the rounds lol.

She's definitely the talk of the town (or world) right now.

Whether you love her or hate her, she got me thinking.

In 2025, it's easy to build hype or go viral.

But it's hard to build something that lasts.

Right now, you've probably had a mini viral moment (IRL).

Maybe you were the hot topic everyone was talking about on their lunch break because of a bold new hairstyle you tried. Some people liked it, and maybe others didn't.

You went viral… at your workplace.

That's your real life equivalent of 100k likes.

You got a bit of buzz, but it didn't last. Thankfully.

But sometimes the buzz does last.

For example, you're joining a new department at work, want to good impression on your boss, new colleagues and get in their good books.

You want that buzz to last.

A future promotion rides on it.

This is what I call the Stick & Stay principle

Your favourite creator.
Your favourite singer
Your favourite clothing brand.
Your favourite YouTuber.

In your mind they Stick and Stay.

Stick → It caught your eye & stood out.
Stay → It kept on delivering.

The same can be applied to friendships.

You stick because of your:
  • Authenticity
  • Sense of humour
  • Open mindedness
  • Approachableness
But you stay because of your:
  • Loyalty
  • No BS attitude
  • Sense of humour
  • Ability to talk about literally anything
Sabrina has a good combination of both:

Stick → controversial branding, moments that get people talking
Stay → a nostalgic but signature look, sound and aesthetic (you know a Sabrina song when you hear it)

The reason I'm sharing this is sometimes we focus too much on the 'stick'.

How can I go viral?
How can I impress that girl?
How can I impress my followers?
How can I make my boss notice me?

This is just one part of the equation.

Staying involves going beneath the surface.
For example:

Friendships
To stay, you need to risk looking corny. Be yourself. Put yourself on the line to find your people. A giraffe in a cow costume will never find its tribe. Stop pretending. Being yourself is scary, but worth it.

Relationships
Leaning on compatibility and compromise, rather than attraction. Opening up, and risking heart break is the price of a relationship that feels deeper than anything you've ever experienced before.

Content
Not chasing a viral moment every day, but instead building a much deeper connection with your audience. The kind where your audience literally feels like they're your friend. (this is so rare btw).

Work
Seek out opportunities. Don't just work hard, network hard. Get to know people - not just as their titles - but them as a person, their motivations and plans. Think partners, not colleagues. Help each other work towards mutual goals. Not tit for tat. When you win, they win and vice versa.

Are you more focused on sticking or staying right now?
